A parent or guardian can purchase bounce house access at one low rate for children 10 and under during open play time. With six different bouncy houses to choose from, little ones and older kids will find plenty of thrills around every corner. The Aberdeen Art Center is dedicated to building a better community by empowering local artists to create, show and sell their art. Within the large facility in the downtown corridor is Alder Grove Gallery. Parents and their children can also try their hand at tennis and play on one of the nearby courts.
While the children are at play, the adults in the family can experience some fun for themselves by playing a game of disc golf. For those that havenít played before, itís very similar to traditional golf, but instead of a golf ball and a club, a flying disc is used. Grays Harbor locals and visitors are fortunate to have a well-established theater community in Aberdeen. The Bishop Center for the Performing Arts is located on the campus of Grays Harbor College and offers dozens of shows throughout the year. Past performances have included musicals such as Annie and Fiddler on the Roof as well as comedy shows, jazz concerts and many others that are sure to delight the entire family. On March 7, 1989 the tall ship Lady Washington entered the Chehalis River to begin its inaugural sail. After 30 years on the water, the iconic ship stands as Washington Stateís official ambassador as it sets sails up and down the West Coast from its official homeport in Aberdeen.
During the summer months (normally June and July), the Lady Washington and her sister-ship Hawaiian Chieftain, make the journey back to the docks of the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport. During this time, courageous souls can take part in an Adventure Sail, Evening Sail or Battle Sail that offer a comprehensive understanding of the workings of these 1700ís replica ships. While the ships are docked, visitors have the opportunity to engage in hands-on history by climbing aboard and speaking with the sailors of these enchanting ships. The annual Fourth of July Splash Festival in Aberdeen concludes the festivities at the Seaport where a spectacular fireworks display lights up the sky.
